De Valge icelandic horses
Our farm 'De Valge'

De Valge in Summer and Winter. Always a stunning place....

In 1996 we bought a small farm in Holland. It is a very charming place, located in one of the very few forestry areas that Holland has left. It's just a 2 minute horse ride into the woods, where we can enjoy riding on one of our Icelandic horses. In 1993, we bought our first Icelandic horse. When we moved to the farm, we bought another one. Since then, some were born, bought or sold, but we now live at De Valge with most of our 17 icelandic horses, 2 red cats and cochin chickens. The place is a green lush 2 hectar  sanctuary in the center of busy Holland..... As always I make (too) many pictures, but it is a place so beautiful that you never tire of it...

De Valge is an old word from the province of Groningen, and means 'hoog bouwland'. We kept the old name,
which was given by the lady who built the house in 1937. We registered the name for the web, e-mail and for
our icelandic horse stable. De Valge is an official stable name in the Icelandic horse stud book.

De Valge is a farm with a very private garden, surrounded by old beech and oak trees. It is located on a small
country road with hardly and through traffic. The forest entrances are less than 1 kilometer away. Horse riding country!

De Valge, our official name as an Icelandic horse stable, has so far bred only 5 foals, 4 mares and one stallion.

When we bought the farm in 1996 it needed a lot of work! We started with only two horses.

Soon,we had a whole family of horses! (picture from 2001)
